Crystal Thorns is a tattoo artist based in Pilsen, Chicago at Black Atlas Studios. With her extensive training and Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, she has cultivated passions for multiple mediums from painting to glasswork. Crystal has been tattooing since 2020 and specializes in illustrative blackwork, fine-line, blackout work, and dotwork. She also relishes in opportunities to expand into Neo-traditional and ornamental projects. Crystal’s strong interest in gardening and botanicals reflects in her nature inspired pieces; she loves to create unique gardens that compliments each client’s body and vision.
My pet axolotl passed at the beginning of the year, and I wanted to memorialize her forever in a special way. Tito helped me do that and gave me a beautiful tattoo of her paw prints on my arm. He did an amazing job and I couldn’t thank him enough.
